About Sarojini Naidu
 
Child prodigy, freedom fighter, and poet, Sarojini Naidu was the first Indian woman to become the President of the Indian National Congress and the first woman to become the Governor of Uttar Pradesh.

She was born in Hyderabad, India in a learned family and she earned national fame for entering Madras University at the age of twelve.

She joined the Indian independence movement in 1905 and worked with Mahatma Gandhi and was imprisoned several times. She also lectured all over India on welfare of youth, dignity of labour, women's emancipation and nationalism.

She is also well acclaimed for her poetric works like – “The Golden Threshold”, “The Bird of Time: Songs of Life, Death & the Spring”, “The Broken Wing: Songs of Love, Death and the Spring” and “The Feather of the Dawn”.
